Who writes Know Pattaya
Guides are published under the byline “Know Pattaya editors”. We research remotely and use AI tools to help draft and check pages. A person decides what is published, and every page follows the rules below.
Where our facts come from
We rank sources and use them accordingly:
- Official and primary sources: operators, airports, government bodies and a property’s own website. Exact changeable facts, such as fares, timetables and published policies, come from here.
- High-authority references: established news outlets, Wikipedia, Wikidata and OpenStreetMap. We use these for context, names and coordinates.
Bar drink prices are the one exception: no official price list exists. We publish typical ranges only where several separate recent reports agree, and re-check them at least every six months.
We don’t cite or link other Pattaya guides, blogs or forums. Descriptions of what a street or area feels like are our own editorial judgement.
We never treat search snippets or an AI model’s memory as evidence.
How facts are checked
Every changeable figure, such as a fare, a timetable or a price, carries the date it was last checked: hover over the figure to see it. That date means we read the source on that day and it said what we show. It does not mean we visited in person. The official and reference sources behind each page are listed at its foot.
Every fact has a review period. When it passes without a fresh check, the page either shows when the figure was last checked or hides it until it’s checked again.
Dates on pages
- “Updated” changes only when we change a page’s substance.
- “Facts checked” shows the last full review of the page’s facts, when that is more recent than the last update.
We never change dates to make a page look fresh.
Nightlife, frankly
Pattaya’s nightlife is famous for its adult side, and many visitors come for it. We’re frank about it: which streets are which, the terms you’ll hear, what drinks cost, and how to avoid the traps.
We never publish prices or instructions for sexual services. We never describe, rate or photograph the people who work in bars, and we never link escort or dating services. Anything involving minors is a serious crime, and we have zero tolerance for it.
Maps and distances
Our line map is a simplified diagram of the main roads, not a street map. Distances are measured as the crow flies between map coordinates from OpenStreetMap and Wikipedia. We don’t publish walking times, because we can’t verify them.
Images
We only publish images whose licence or permission we have recorded. Right now the site uses no third-party photographs. See media credits.
Corrections
Spotted an error? Use the contact form. A person reads every report. We check it against the sources, and if we change a page substantively, the page shows the new update date.
