The verdict
Choose Central Pattaya if:
- you want to walk to nightlife most evenings;
- your trip is short and you want to see a lot;
- noise doesn’t bother you, or you’ll ask for a quiet room at the back.
Choose Jomtien if:
- the beach is a main reason for the trip;
- you’re staying longer and want a neighbourhood;
- a ride in for the big nights and a ride back is fine.

Nights out: the real difference
From Central Pattaya, the evening decides itself: walk out of the door. From Jomtien, every big night is a ride over Thappraya Road, and a ride back at the end.
That’s easy with a baht bus in the evening and ride-hailing late at night. But on a trip built around nightlife, a nightly round trip adds cost and friction.
Getting between them
Central Pattaya mall and the middle of Jomtien Beach are about 4.5 km apart as the crow flies. The road route is longer, over the Pratumnak headland. Baht buses and ride-hailing both cover it.
