What LK Metro is
LK Metro sits off Soi Buakhao, inland from Second Road. The main lane runs about 210 m in an L shape, connecting Soi Buakhao to Soi Diana.
Bars, go-go bars, restaurants and small hotels sit around the lane. It is compact enough to compare the two arms before choosing somewhere to stop.
The go-go bars are what it’s best known for. The boom boom side is as present here as on Walking Street, just on a smaller scale.
The two entrances and the bend
From Soi Buakhao
The Buakhao entrance sits north of the Soi Diana junction and south of Soi Honey. Entering here takes you northwest along the first arm of the L, away from Buakhao, until the lane bends. The bend divides the lane into two arms.
Around to Soi Diana
From the bend, the other arm runs southwest to Soi Diana. At that exit, Second Road is reached by following Soi Diana northwest; following Soi Diana southeast takes you back to Buakhao. That gives you a loop using LK Metro, Soi Diana and the intervening stretch of Buakhao.
Towards Tree Town
For Tree Town, return to Buakhao and head north past the Soi Honey junction. Tree Town lies farther north on the west side of Buakhao. It is a separate stop, not an exit within LK Metro. The Soi Buakhao guide puts these connections in order.
Agree which entrance you mean when meeting someone. “LK Metro, Soi Diana end” avoids sending one person to Buakhao while the other waits on Diana.
How it compares with Walking Street
LK Metro is smaller, cheaper, less intense and easier to explore than Walking Street. It’s also less of a spectacle: bright, busy and walkable, but not beautiful.
If Walking Street feels overwhelming, this is where many visitors end up spending their evenings.
What drinks cost
In the go-go bars, a bottle of beer typically costs about 140–170 baht and a lady drink about 195–220 baht, a notch below Walking Street. The beer bars are cheaper again: a local beer is typically about 70–90 baht and a lady drink about 150–180 baht. Most bars post their prices; check before you order.
A night at LK Metro
For an early stop, look for a beer bar that is already open. They’re the easy way in: a seat facing the lane, a cheap beer and a view of the evening building up.
The go-go bars fill up later in the evening. Check the menu and ask where to sit before ordering. Dancers take turns on the stage, and staff may ask you to buy a lady drink. You can always say no, and you can leave after one drink.
When to go
It is active from late afternoon, busiest from about 8pm into the early hours, and much busier Friday to Sunday than midweek. There’s no car-free rule like Walking Street’s. It’s a walkable lane where you’ll share space with motorbikes.
Staying at LK Metro
Plenty of visitors stay right here. Check the individual property and room carefully; being close to bars brings a noise trade-off. Before you book:
- Ask for a high floor at the back, away from the lane.
- Check the room has a window. Some budget rooms in dense blocks don’t.
- Read the visitor policy on the hotel’s own website if you expect guests.
The Soi Buakhao entrance puts you back on the main road for shops and everyday services.
Getting there
From anywhere on Soi Buakhao, walk. Beach Road is under a kilometre to the west. Baht buses run along Soi Buakhao itself, and ride-hailing works well at night.
Drivers know it best by the streets around it: specify the Soi Buakhao entrance or the Soi Diana entrance and check the pickup or drop-off point in your map app.
