What Soi 6 is
Soi 6, officially Soi Pattaya 6, is one short lane between Beach Road and Second Road in the north of central Pattaya. Small bar frontages run almost unbroken along both sides, each open to the street. Staff sit outside and call passers-by in.
It is known as a “short-time” bar street, the bluntest expression of Pattaya’s boom boom reputation. That directness is the whole appeal for some visitors and the reason others find it overwhelming.
Beach Road end and Second Road end
Soi 6 is about 360 m between its two main-road junctions. The Beach Road end is west, towards the sea; the Second Road end is east, inland. It is one continuous lane, so you do not need to turn into smaller passages to reach the other end.
Arriving from the beachfront
Use the Beach Road junction as your starting point if you are already by the beach. Facing inland, the lane leads towards Second Road. Keep the junction in mind if you want to return to the waterfront after looking along the street.
Arriving from inland
Use the Second Road junction when approaching from that side of central Pattaya. Facing along Soi 6 from here takes you back towards Beach Road and the sea. For a meeting or pickup, name the road at your chosen end rather than just saying “Soi 6”.
The straight-line distances below help compare Soi 6 with LK Metro and Walking Street. Those are separate nightlife areas, not adjoining sections of this lane.
When it’s busy
This is the one Pattaya nightlife street that makes more sense in daylight. It gets going in the afternoon, when the other strips are still asleep, and it’s at its liveliest into the early evening. Mid-morning is quiet.
Go in the late afternoon for the easiest first look.
Inside a Soi 6 bar
The bars are small: a counter, a few stools, loud music and a handful of staff. Sit down and someone will come to chat, and before long ask you to buy them a drink. Saying yes means a lady drink; saying no is completely fine.
The slip for each drink usually goes into a small cup on the bar in front of you. Check it before you pay, and settle up before you move on to the next bar.
Walking through if you just want to look
You do not have to stop at a bar. A clear “no thanks” or “mai ao, khrap” is a polite way to decline. Keep moving if the attention is unwelcome, and choose another street if the atmosphere does not suit you.
Money
Drinks cost less than on Walking Street, and many bars post their prices. A local beer typically costs about 80–120 baht, less at happy hour. A lady drink, the drink you buy for a member of staff, costs about 140–200 baht. Ask before you accept anything.
Keep control of the bill:
- Check the price before you order anything.
- Pay as you go instead of running a tab.
- Ask for an itemised bill.
- Bring a fixed amount of cash and leave the cards at the hotel.
Dry days
Buddhist holy-day alcohol restrictions have exemptions for qualifying hotels and licensed entertainment venues. Check with the venue rather than assuming the whole lane will close. The nightlife guide lists the Buddhist holidays affected.

Getting there
Soi 6 runs between Beach Road and Second Road, north of Central Pattaya Road. Walk from Central or North Pattaya. Baht buses pass both ends: southbound on Beach Road, northbound on Second Road. The distances below show how it relates to the rest of the city.
