Soi 7 and Soi 8: two bar streets beside Pattaya Beach

By Know Pattaya editorsPublished

The short answer

Soi 7 and Soi 8 are neighbouring bar streets between Beach Road and Second Road, south of Soi 6 and north of Central Pattaya mall. Choose them for an evening close to the central beachfront rather than a trip to Walking Street. Use the road at either end to orient yourself, and check room position carefully if you plan to sleep beside the bars.

Find the right Soi 7 and Soi 8

These are Soi Pattaya 7 and Soi Pattaya 8, between the central beachfront and Second Road. Pattaya has numbered sois on several other roads too, so keep “Pattaya” with the number when saving a destination or asking for directions.

Soi 7 is the northern of this pair and Soi 8 is the southern one. Both meet Beach Road on the west and Second Road inland. Soi 7 also continues east of Second Road; for this bar-street visit, use the stretch between Second Road and the beach.

Find the right Soi 7 and Soi 8

Beach Road end of Soi 8The southern lane of the pairKeep the soi number with the road name
Second Road endAn inland approach to either laneCheck which lane you are entering before arranging a meeting

You can make a small circuit by walking along one soi, crossing between them at a main-road end, and returning along the other. Watch for vehicles: these are streets, not a pedestrian precinct.

What sort of evening is this?

The area is known for beer bars and bar-front evenings close to the beach. It is part of Pattaya’s adult nightlife, so company and drink invitations can be part of the scene. Pick a place whose atmosphere and menu suit you, and decline politely when you want to keep moving.

It is a different decision from Walking Street, which combines clubs, restaurants, live music and go-go bars along a longer southern strip. Soi 6 is a separate street to the north; knowing the number matters.

For the inland alternative, Soi Buakhao and LK Metro have their own layouts. Choose the evening by where you want to spend it and how you will get back to your room.

Arrive on the road heading your way

Beach Road is one-way, heading south. Second Road is one-way, heading north. A shared baht bus following those roads therefore approaches this area from different directions.

For a southbound trip along the beachfront, use the Beach Road side. For a northbound trip through the centre, use Second Road. Confirm a shared service and its route when you are unsure, then get off at the end you actually need. The baht-bus guide explains boarding and payment.

Give a companion a specific soi and road-end meeting point. “By the bars” leaves too much room for confusion when you are on different lanes or different sides of Second Road.

Staying near Soi 7 or Soi 8

This position can suit someone who wants the beach and central nightlife close to the room. Check the room’s actual position before booking: a street-facing window above a bar is a different choice from a room further back in the same building.

Ask what is directly below the room, where the entrance sits, and how you reach it after an evening out. If sleep is the priority, ask about current music nearby and room orientation rather than treating a district name as a noise guarantee.

The Central Pattaya guide compares the beachfront, Second Road and the inland side. Use that comparison before choosing a hotel simply because its listing mentions a famous soi.

Check the menu before ordering and ask before adding a drink for someone else. Keep track of the tab and ask for it itemised when you pay. Set your own stopping point for the evening and keep enough money for the return journey.

If you finish at the beach end, check the direction before boarding a shared truck; if you need a car, choose a pickup position where it can stop and confirm the destination in the app. The transport sheet is useful to save before going out.

The safety guide covers bill disputes and personal belongings. Choose a different venue or finish the evening when the conditions no longer suit you.
